Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: nocturnal intermittent hypoxia and telomerase complex activity

چکیده
Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is a common pathology of the respiratory system characterized by upper airway blockage during sleep. The caused intermittent throat collapse and thereby no lung ventilation with preserved efforts. Earlier we demonstrated that telomeres at end chromosomes shorten nocturnal hypoxia fragmentation in OSA patients; elimination triggers contributed to an increase relative telomere length (RTL). search for relationship between telomerase complex activity stages, as well indicators blood oxygen saturation OSA, seems relevant. Aim. To evaluate main components determine its phases level desaturation patients OSA. Methods. group included 32 men (age 51.2 ± 3.1 years) complaints snoring, arrest sleep, increased daytime control consisted 26 matched volunteers without clinical manifestations Patients both groups did not have any exacerbations their chronic conditions baseline. study questionnaires, polysomnography monitoring, analysis RLT PCR, ELISA components, statistical analysis. Results. Differences were revealed functioning TERT, TEP1. A positive saturation, TER1 was found patients. Conclusion. We identified decrease RTL proved

Association between Plasma Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin Level and Obstructive Sleep Apnea or Nocturnal Intermittent Hypoxia
BACKGROUND Both obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and a novel lipocalin, neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin (Ngal), have been reported to be closely linked with cardiovascular disease and loss of kidney function through chronic inflammation. However, the relationship between OSA and Ngal has never been investigated. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the relationship between Ngal and OSA in clinical ...
متن کاملObstructive sleep apnoea syndrome: a new paradigm by chronic nocturnal intermittent hypoxia and sleep disruption
Obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with severe cerebro-cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. It is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis, arterial thrombosis and metabolic syndrome, and recently has been associated with an increased incidence of cancer and death. A causal link between OSAS and atherosclerosis has been partially established. Recent research on athe...
متن کاملObstructive sleep apnea syndrome and nocturnal epilepsy with tonic seizures.
Some ambiguous symptoms may delay or lead to an erroneous diagnosis. We present a case of pure sleep, generalized tonic seizures in a patient with concomitant sleep apnea syndrome. The prolonged apneic periods with tonic muscle contracture lasting minutes and occurring exclusively at night with ensuing confusional state posed diagnostic difficulties because of the negative EEG at the beginning ...
متن کاملSelective activation of inflammatory pathways by intermittent hypoxia in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
BACKGROUND Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS), characterized by intermittent hypoxia/reoxygenation (IHR), is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. We investigated the underlying molecular mechanisms of this association in a translational study. METHODS AND RESULTS In a novel in vitro model of IHR, we used HeLa cells transfected with reporter constructs and DNA binding as...
متن کاملApert Syndrome with Obstructive Sleep Apnea: A Case Report
Apert syndrome is a rare kind of craniosynostosis which is identified with fusion of cranial sutures during prematurity period and causes physical and intellectual disorders in younger ages. These patients may show symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea due to abnormal craniofacial shape. This article introduces a patient with Apert syndrome, with apnea symptoms, cyanosis, snoring, restlessness, n...
